Ways To Save Money For A Vacation
If you are wanting to take a holiday, you need money, and saving money can be hard for some people. So I wanted to share some tips and ideas to help you save money for your next trip!
The best way to save is to put a bit of money aside every week or month. It might not seem like much at first, but it soon adds up, and before you know it, you will have a pot of money ready for your next trip.
One of the best ways to do this is by opening a savings account and putting your money in there. You can earn interest on your savings, and depending on the account you choose, you might get a better rate than you do with your usual bank account.
There are some good savings accounts available, including Chip, which is worth checking out if you want somewhere to put your money while saving for a holiday.
But saving money isn’t just about putting money aside. There are also ways to earn cashback on your usual shopping, get money back on things you buy anyway, and save money when booking your trip.
Here are some of my favourite apps and websites that I recommend using. Some of these you might not have heard of before, and the great thing is that you can use them together!
Recommended Apps
Chip – Savings account
Chip is a savings app that lets you put money aside and earn interest on your savings. It has different savings accounts available, including instant access accounts, so you can choose one that suits your needs.
I recommend using a savings account when saving for a holiday. It gives you somewhere separate to keep your money, rather than leaving it sitting in your usual bank account where you might be tempted to spend it on something else!
Chip regularly changes its interest rates, so it is worth checking what rate is available when you sign up and comparing it with other savings accounts.
Eligible deposits in Chip’s savings accounts are protected by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS), subject to its rules and limits.
If you join Chip now using my link, you will also get £50 completely free if you deposit over £1,000 at once and keep it there for 90 days! You also get amazing savings rates too, so you are earning money too!

Topcashback – Cashback on your shopping
opCashback is one of my favourite cashback sites, and I have earned hundreds of pounds using it over the years!
The way it works is simple. You go through TopCashback’s links when shopping online, make your purchase, and receive a percentage back in cashback.
You can use it for all sorts of things, including travel bookings, hotels, car hire and everyday shopping. So you can potentially earn cashback while booking your next holiday, as well as on things you would be buying anyway.
I recommend checking TopCashback before making an online purchase, as you might be able to get some money back simply by going through their website first.
It is free to join, and the cashback can soon add up over time!

Cheddar – Automatic cashback
Cheddar is another cashback app, but it works differently from TopCashback.
Instead of having to click through a cashback website every time you shop, you link an eligible payment card to Cheddar. When you shop with participating retailers, you can earn cashback automatically.
This means you don’t have to remember to visit a cashback website before every purchase, which is handy if you sometimes forget!
You can use Cheddar alongside other cashback services, so it is worth looking into if you want to earn a bit extra from your usual spending.

Airtime Rewards – Automatic cashback
Airtime Rewards is another cashback app that I recommend.
It works in a similar way to Cheddar, as you can earn cashback on eligible purchases using a linked payment card. The difference is that you can redeem your cashback towards your mobile phone bill.
I use this to build up credit and then put it towards an add-on with my mobile provider. It is a useful way to save a bit of money on something I need to pay for anyway!
If you are paying for your mobile phone every month, it is worth checking whether you can earn cashback on your usual shopping and put it towards your bill.

Trip.com – Compare and save
Trip.com is a website I recommend checking when booking a holiday. You can search for flights, hotels and car hire, making it useful for comparing different parts of your trip.
I always recommend shopping around before booking anything, as prices can vary quite a lot between companies. Don’t just book the first option you find because it looks like a good deal.
Check Trip.com alongside other booking sites to see whether you can find a better price.
Qeeq – Compare car rental
If you are planning to hire a car on your trip, Qeeq is another website worth checking.
It lets you compare car hire deals, which can help you find a price that suits your budget.
I recommend using it alongside other car hire comparison websites rather than relying on just one. Prices can vary, and spending a few extra minutes comparing them could save you money.
Getrentalcar.com – Compare car rental
GetRentacar is another website you can use to compare car hire prices.
I use car hire comparison sites alongside one another when looking for a rental car, as you might find a different deal on each site.
Make sure you compare what is included in the price, too, rather than just looking at the cheapest headline price. Things like insurance, mileage, deposits and additional fees can make a difference to the final cost.
Start Saving for Your Next Trip!
You don’t need to save loads of money every month to start putting money towards your next holiday. Even putting a little aside when you can adds up over time, and there are plenty of ways to save money on things you already buy.
I always try to compare prices before booking, make the most of cashback and put money into savings whenever I can. Using a few of these apps and websites together can make a difference and help you save a bit more for your next trip.
Hopefully, some of these are useful and help you put a little extra towards your next holiday!
