Halloween Event Carved at Descanso Gardens 2025

Every October, Descanso Gardens in Los Angeles runs it’s annual Halloween event, Carved.
Returning for 2025, this Halloween tradition brings art, nature, and spooky magic together in one of Los Angeles’ most enchanting settings. Perfect for anyone and everyone as this is a magical family-friendly must-see Halloween attraction!

I love Halloween events and I really loved Carved! I really enjoyed it.
I went there on 3rd October 2025 and spent about 1.5 hours there, and I easily could have spend much longer honestly!

The gardens were glowing with hundreds of carved pumpkins lit up the trails, as well as beautiful light installations in the oak trees.
It almost felt like stepping into a fairy tale forest filled with autumn colours and twinkling lights. The ones you see in the cartoons and movies.
I would recommend that you definitely do a few laps, as I missed some things the first time.
The trail was easy to navigate, and there were plenty of spots to stop, rest, and take in the displays.

I am chronically ill and disabled so I can’t walk far or stand long, but I was fine here! The surface was good and there were seats all over so I could go to one area, sit and admire the scenery, then move to the next area and do the same. This way I didn’t walk far at all as I was resting a lot.
So if you have mobility issues, you should be ok with the surface and with the seating. It is nice and flat too!

I especially loved how the lights reflected off the trees and made the whole place feel really cosy but also spooky and magical.

Lots of things for kids and adults alike to get involved in, so your kids won’t get bored and it is so magical and spooky! I saw so many kids and families having a great time and there was so much for the kids to do.

There was hundreds of glowing pumpkins lining the paths which was so beautiful. Trees were lit up in warm autumn colours. It felt peaceful, spooky and magical without being overwhelming.

The light tunnels, glowing pumpkins and the ship were the highlights for me. They are really amazing!

I went on the launch night and it was a bit busy, but there was still lots of room and it never really felt busy, but you could see how many people where there from the car park. As there is a trail as well as activities and a food area, people are spread out so there is plenty of room for everyone!

There is a map of the route on the website which I had open on my phone so I knew where I wanted to go. They also have them on signs throughout the event.

I highly recommend this event to everyone of any age if you are in the area! It really is stunning.
It’s one of those events that captures the magic of Halloween without being too intense or over-the-top and it is perfect for ALL ages, as many Halloween events are not kid friendly as a bit too scary. This isn’t that, this is perfect for all.

  • Seating & Rest Areas: Benches and rest spots are available along the trail. I sat down a lot due to my disability so I really appreciated the seating! Maybe a few more seats would be nice, but I did manage to get a seat without issue.
  • Parking: Accessible parking is available near the entrance, with drop-off zones close to the main gate.

If you have any other accessibility questions, contact Descanso Gardens directly before attending for information.

Tips for Visiting

  • Buy tickets early – popular nights such as weekends, often sell out quickly.
  • Arrive a little before your time slot – parking can get busy! It was pretty busy when I got there.
  • Wear comfortable shoes – the walk is about a mile long and is a little dusty in places.
  • Bring a jacket – evenings in October can get chilly, so make sure to bring some warm clothes or layers. It had been hot in the day, but the night was cold, so I needed my light jacket.
You can also buy some hot drinks or food if you get a bit too cold.
