Warning About Sites Charging For Free Passenger Locator Forms
Be careful when getting passenger location forms (PLF’s) as many sites are charging people for the forms which are totally free when you go via the official government websites!
Many sites charging who are listed on Google are often being pushed in front of the official government websites, even though they are charging for something that is free.
Some of these sites even go as far as to mimic the official websites, so that people think it must be official. Many people see these links at the top of the search results and assume they are official. Just because they are at the top or sponsored results, doesn’t mean they are official. Always check the URL!
Don’t just go to the first site you see and pay them for something you can get free.
Make sure you go to the official government website.
Please be careful and take time to do your research first.
For countries including UK, Italy, Portugal, Greece, Spain and Turkey, you can get them free. You do not need to pay for them. This is the same for many other countries too.
Basically you are paying someone to fill in your information that you could have done yourself as you have to provide it to these third parties anyway.
You are paying for something you don’t need to pay for and giving your information away to god knows who!
This is the same for things such as the free GHIC card. Many sites charge people for them, even though the are free.
Here are some tips:
- Make sure to go to the official websites and not the first search result you see!
- Check it is a government/embassy official website.
- Don’t click the sponsored links!
If you are unsure, contact the airline and ask them.
Watch out, there are a lot of people out there who are just looking to make money from you.
